In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Propitiation – the action of appeasing a God, spirit, or person; atonement
God’s love. What an amazing God we serve. I have four sons and couldn’t bare to lose any of them. God sent his Only Son, knowing he would be crucified so we could be saved from our sins.
And what does it say about Jesus? He endured the cross for us. (Hebrews 12:2). He died while we were in sin. (Roman’s 5:8) He was God’s sacrifice for us. (Ephesians 5:2). He laid down his life for us. (John 10:17). He proved his love for us by his sacrifice.
Love, not in word only, but in the greatest action, dying for sinners. (You and me.)
What wonderful Love!
