Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
John 11:25
Resurrection means rising from the dead. Jesus was talking to Martha, whose brother Lazarus had died. What would you feel? Martha is grieving for her brother. She knows Jesus could have healed him. What did these words mean?
Jesus came to earth to die a cruel death. But without the resurrection it would have been meaningless. He would be another god whose body was in a grave.
He is telling her that He is the resurrection. He can raise people from the dead. He was able to raise himself from the dead. I was dead spiritually and by His death and resurrection I am raised to new life. I have eternal life through Him. And when my body physically dies, I will be alive in eternity
