And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for, behold,
I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
The angel talking to the shepherds, telling them not to fear because they had wonderful news. A baby born, but not just any baby (because they are all miracles) – this baby was the Son of God who came to be the Saviour – the promised Messiah. The greatest news ever! Do you think they stopped being afraid? Did they look at each other and question if it was really happening?
Ever wonder why the angel didn’t appear to the Pharisees or the Saducees? They were the religious leaders, but they were full of pride and arrogant. God brought the Good News to humble shepherds. And He brings the same Good News to us! There’s more to the story, stay tuned, and memorize these verses.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
The second week of Advent. Peace is the theme. What brings peace to your heart? I always like sitting by the water and listening to it and the sounds of nature. But I can have peace in the midst of a storm or trial in my life, because Jesus is my peace. He says he gives me peace, and leaves His peace with me. I have only to apply it to my situation. When we don’t have peace, it is because we are not using what Jesus has already given us. Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
