It was one of those days…
My mood was not great; I was frustrated, and irritated. Mid-afternoon one of my children asked me to drive them to an activity that seemed unnecessary to me.
That wasn’t helping my already bad mood.
Trying desperately to climb out of the grumpy pit I went on a walk, while we waited for the activity to conclude. While we were out, my husband messaged me that we had received, twelve feathered friends. Ugh! not what I wanted to hear. (We have our own and wasn’t interested in more; especially with winter upon us.)
Me and my other children returned to the car after our walk. My heart was angry, and frustrated, and feeling very agitated. From the back seat I hear, “Mom, God is going to make something good come out of this.” That was great words; I only wished I was the one saying them. Yes, I had said that many times to my children but wasn’t feeling it in this moment. My heart needed that reminder.
When we arrived home my husband announced that he had found homes for the twelve feathered visitors. Delighted, was how my heart felt at that moment! Would they also like some furry companions, I said jokingly. To my amazement they said, yes! We gave them two companions for the twelve feathered friends. For a while I had tried to no avail to give away some furry friends. I had asked God, pleaded, with Him to please let me find homes for them.
It took twelve feathered friends showing up on a particularly grumpy day to show me that God is in control. As I recounted how God had worked in such a mysterious way to bring about the home for the feathered friends, and furry friends I exclaimed, “only God”.
My thoughts went to, that’s the way God works. He works in ways that seem so CRAZY to our way of human thinking. He does that so that we know without a doubt it’s Him.
A large family was blessed by the animals. We were just a means for God to deliver them to them.
God even works through hard, grumpy days. Yes, I repented to God and confessed to my children my wrong attitude. I truly pray that next time I will be quicker to praise and not complain.
The book of Exodus is full of God leading the children of Israel in the most peculiar ways. God doesn’t work in straight lines. He does things so that we can only exclaim, “Only God!”
Throughout this coming year watch for the tracing of God’s finger all over your life. Notice how many times you can say ” It was God”.
We serve a wonderful God that works in ways we don’t often understand or always appreciate. He is loving and kind even when humanly we don’t see it.
God bless you.
