Psalm 100:2. Serve the Lord with gladness:
This is very self explanatory. But what about the days when I don’t feel like being glad – when I’m having a rough road in my walk with Jesus. Do I have to try to serve with gladness? And therein lies the key. The little word I. Without God I can do nothing. (John 15:5) On the days I am stubborn and don’t want to pray or read, or call or send cards, or witness, or prepare that lesson, or whatever it is I don’t want to do, I ask God to help me. I ask Him to give me a want to and to change my attitude.
And it seems pride gets in the way. I think I can do it without God’s help. The word pride has an ‘I’ right in the middle. We are finite people. We want to be in control, but we must give that over to God. It should be a joy to serve the Lord!
Where has he asked you to serve? Are you doing it with gladness?
