Psalm 61:2 ~ March Scripture Verse

From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

David would cry out to God no matter where he was and was positive God would hear him. Has your heart ever been overwhelmed? Have you been passed by for a promotion you thought was yours? Did you not get hired where you really wanted to work? Did a loved one die unexpectedly? Did the doc tell you had the big ‘C’ word – Cancer? Is your child on drugs? Is your marriage in danger? And so many more.

David knew where his help would be.

Do you know where to turn when you’re overwhelmed? David wasn’t talking about some high rock where he went and prayed. He was talking about God! (Check out these passages: II Samuel 22:47; I Corinthians 10:4; Psalm 31:3; Psalm 62:6; Psalm 92:15; Psalm 89:26). David acknowledged that God was higher than him – someone who could help him and direct him and protect him. We need to run to that Rock.
